Current Favourites | Forest Essentials Eladi Teenage Day Cream

When it comes to skincare, I always prefer natural and organic products over the synthetically produced ones. We already get a good enough dose of chemicals from our environment and food and I would like to avoid it in whichever aspect I can. For this reason, Forest Essentials is one of my favourite skincare brands – no artificial fragrance, no animal ingredients, no petrochemicals, parabens, or sulphates, and is based on Ayurvedic concepts.

I’ve used a number of products from Forest Essentials over the years and have grown to love many. But right now, I am particularly in love with their Teenage Eladi Day Cream. Marketed essentially towards teenagers, I’ve found that it actually addresses a number of skin concerns that people way beyond their teenage years (me) can also have. It are these issues that actually led me to purchase my first bottle.

I have a combination skin with an oily T-zone and normal to dry cheeks. I usually get a lot of whiteheads along my sideburns and around my chin and jawline. Products that work well on my skin usually elevate these issues or at least minimise them.

Over the course of using my first bottle (which lasted around a month and a half) I discovered that it actually did work a great deal to control sebum, and slightly reduced my acne marks. But more than that, it evened out my skin texture and kept it moisturised for a long time (easily 6-8 hours). Plus it has an SPF 25, which means that I can do without applying a sunscreen separately. I am now on my third bottle and haven’t developed a resistance to it, which happens with a lot of products in my case. If the price was a little less, it would’ve been the perfect product.

Here’s a summary of things that I like and don’t like about the product.

Things I love about the Forest Essentials Eladi Teenage Day Cream

  • It keeps my skin moisturised throughout the day
  • I need to use a very small amount (the size of a pea) for my whole face and neck, which means that it lasts a long time too.
  • It helps me control sebum, even out skin tone, and reduce marks
  • It has SPF 25, which reduces the need for an extra sunscreen on most days
  • It smells great and has a lovely texture

Things I don’t like so much

  • It’s a little too pricey for teenagers to purchase
  • It comes in a tub and you need to scoop out the cream with a finger or spatula. A pump or tube would’ve been more hygenic
  • On humid days it can make the skin slightly oily. This usually affects makeup that you’re putting on top.

My routine with the Forest Essentials Eladi Teenage Day Cream

I use it once in the morning after washing my face with room temperature water (no facewash) and applying a vitamin C serum.

Overall, the Forest Essentials Eladi Day Cream is actually pretty great. The fact that I’ve brought it three times already shows that I love it more than any other day moisturiser I’ve used.
