Diwali Diaries: Twirling In Anarkalis

Diwali Diaries: Twirling In Anarkalis

Now that the temperature in Delhi has finally started dropping and Diwali is right around the corner, it’s time to bring out the festive outfits. Whether you’re going to the innumerable card parties or just planning to dress it up for office, all of us need some inspiration from time to time to spice things up in our wardrobes.

So leading up to the festival of lights, I’ll be sharing my favourite festive looks with you guys. One thing you should know, however, is that I don’t buy new outfits every year. Because frankly, festival clothing is extremely expensive and, like wedding outfits, can’t really be worn outside of this time period. Instead, I prefer to mix and match outfits I’ve collected over the years to create new looks each year. This also acts like a boost for my creativity.

For the first outfit this year, I have repurposed an old anarkali that I actually bought for a wedding function a couple of years ago from Meena Bazaar and styled it with a contrasting but subtle dupatta from FabIndia. The result is an ultra-wearable look that can be accessorised for smaller parties or even for the main Diwali day. For the accessories I have dual tone jhumkas from Purple Tressor and plain, dark brown Juttis from Janpath.
